Welcome to the fall issue of the Austin Family Business Program E-Bulletin. We have lots
of events happening to keep you informed such as our Certificate Program and our annual
Awards ceremony to honor family businesses.
First, our Certificate in Family Business Management Program starting November 12th
2003 is a five session certificate program. This is a new program designed to meet the
practical needs of family businesses. Over the five sessions a number of themes are
explored such as effective management for the family business, professionalizing the
family business, leading the family business and effective letting go of the family
business. Whatever stage you are at in the family business, this is a practical course
designed to give you a chance to work on your family business by sharing and learning
with and from others. Participants receive a certificate upon completion of this five session course.
Second, our 2003 Excellence in Family Business Awards taking place on Thursday November
20th from 5.00pm - 9.30pm at The Oregon Zoo recognizes those family businesses which
have achieved excellence across a number of areas such as innovation, commitment and economic
and community contributions. Enjoy an evening of celebrating with family businesses. Also enjoy a presentation
from keynote speaker, Susan Scott, best selling author of Fierce Conversations. We look forward to seeing you and your family there.
Finally, you won’t want to miss the 2004 Austin Family Business Conference being held
next year June 17th-19th 2004. This intensive conference will be held at The Resort at
the Mountain, one hour east of Portland. Attendance is limited and we anticipate that
